A Synopsis of Jackson Burgin, Inc., its projects and philosophy:
Jackson Burgin, Inc. (JB) owns over 125,000 square feet of office, industrial and retail space and manages about 43,400 square feet of additional space for a sister company, Jackson Properties.
JB has completed the Village on 13th redevelopment project, which consists of over 61,000 square feet of retail and office space located along the boundary of three historic areas in Midtown Columbus. Notable tenants include eateries Locos Grill & Pub and Divine Dinners, offices for the Community Foundation of the Chattahoochee Valley and Stand and Stretch, and retailers Two Sisters Gallery, Daphne’s Bridal Boutique and Piggly Wiggly Foodmarket as well as Bright Dry-Bar and Salon. With interest in the area on the rise, JB is looking to meet the demand with a new building in the North Village. This would add an additional 12,000 square feet of space.
JB has also completed its Jackson Square project located along Veterans parkway in the Central Business District of Columbus. Five buildings that had exceeded their useful life were removed from the site and the remaining office building was fully renovated. Additionally, Arby’s joined the development in a freestanding building adjacent to a new a retail building hosting Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins and Ace Cleaners.
In other work, JB purchased a historic, endangered church located in the high uptown district of Columbus along 3rd Avenue. The renovations to the sanctuary, the educational building and the fellowship hall are now complete. As that this is a tax credit project, JB has worked closely with the State Historic Preservation Office and the National Park Service to stay within the guidelines for such a project.
Projects on the horizon for JB include a build-to-suit deal on land owned along Victory Drive and a joint mixed-use development of over 150 acres in the northeast corner of Muscogee County.
As an outgrowth of its work, a development company was formed called Five Minute Walk, LLC (5MW) to develop projects for third-party investors using the experience learned from the redevelopment of the JB assets. 5MW has been hired by Eberhart Partners, LLC to develop a condominium complex off of Wynnton Road.
Jackson Burgin is a small company that focuses on the redevelopment of Columbus. It does that through the built environment, but we desire to see Columbus continually improve in all aspects. For that reason, JB encourages employees to serve charitable organizations such as UpTown Columbus, MidTown, Inc., and the Historic Columbus Foundation as well as entities such as the Boy Scouts of America, Easter Seals, Goodwill Industries and the Pastoral Institute. We are excited to put our experience and support behind forward thinking projects of all kinds in and around Columbus.
